Savage Gulf Backpacking

Well, not quite backpacking but we did walk about a mile to our campsite so this excursion doesn't qualify as car camping... Anyway, Savage Gulf, located in Middle Tennessee is a beautiful forested area cut by several small creeks complete with with many waterfalls only an hour west of Chattanooga that we hadn't checked out yet. We had fantastic weather with low 60s during the day and upper 40s at night. Layton did a great job carrying his backpack and Kestrel did a pretty good job trying to go to sleep in the tent for the first time. One thing is certain: The Laeser Institute needs to invest in a three/four person tent the next time we try something like this — it was very cozy for the four of us in our current two person tent.

The greatest discovery of the trip were the roasted Peeps (Easter Marshmallow chicks) that we had left over from a month ago. When cooked over the fire properly the sugar on the outside caramelized making the best campfire treats ever.
